I have one project in my mind but no time to do it since i have my diploma project ongoing at university and bsc exams coming afterwards :S but eventually i'll do it.. someday.

I was thinking that a tutorial i found some time ago would help you (maybe) :

Hum ... i don't think all the steps are necessary as the one after he add soe white on the top of his mountains don't look quite good ...
I think using some harder brush will resolve the fact it is blurry ^^

About job in real life - yes, I think, it's somehow linked with GFX:)
About vectors - I like/love/live in vectors, but I was happy to open painting technique for myself... So, I think I'll continue my attempts :) Though, I have one vector work in progress, but that in 'freeze' mode right now:)
